ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
CHERYL FALK has been with Island Children's Choir since 1983 and with Island Sound since its creation in 1990. She has degrees in Applied Vocal Performance and Elementary Education. Cheryl has performed leading roles in numerous musicals, oratorios, and operas and has been a soloist in choral groups. She is a composer and arranger and has two record albums to her credit. She has been a studio musician and a private voice teacher for over twenty-five years. Cheryl holds choreography workshops for students and teachers of music throughout the Northwest. She also creates original productions for ICE.
ACCOMPANIST/ARRANGER
EUGENE
BIEN began his position with ICE in 2004. A gifted classical
pianist who excelled in competitive performances, Eugene attended the
University of California at Berkeley where he accompanied the Berkeley
Men's Chorus. He remained in the area, playing professionally as a
soloist and with small jazz combos and big bands. Moving to Los
Angeles he spent ten years in the studio recording TV and radio jingles,
independent artists' CD projects and backing tracks for vocalists.
For one year he was "on the road" as the Musical Director for
the Platters and has several original compositions and arrangements to his
credit. Eugene lives in Bellevue.
EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR/MANAGER
MARSHA
WOERNER has been with the organization since 1992. She graduated from the University of Washington and has a degree in Elementary Education. Her responsibilities include ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of all three performing groups including maintaining choir business, financial records, and administering personnel matters. She produces the monthly newsletter,
Choir Notes, manages costumes, sets and prop inventory, performance bookings, facilitates the audition process, organizes and travels with the annual tours of Island Children's Choir and Island Sound. Marsha is in charge of promotional and marketing efforts and helps facilitate communication between choir staff and the Board of Directors.
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
HEATHER
BURGESS "graduated" from the (Mercer) Island Children's
Choir in 1981. She studied voice, under Cheryl Falk, and the flute
for many years. She graduated from the University of San Diego with
a degree in Elementary Education. She joined the staff in 1991 for a
few years and returned in 2001 as an assistant to Marsha and Cheryl.
Her responsibilities are attending rehearsals and assisting Cheryl and
Eugene with musical instruction, working with parent volunteers, assisting
with costumes, sets and props, and maintaining the data base. After
a year in England with her family Heather returns to ICE as an alumnae,
guest performer and valuable staff member.
COSTUME BUYER/MANAGER
TRACI CROWLEY-NUDELMAN joined
the staff in 2000. She is responsible for the purchase, production,
fitting, distribution and inventory control of costumes. She has
been involved in the apparel industry since college and began her career
at Frederick & Nelson Department Stores, joining Frederick &
Nelson's Management Training Program immediately after graduating from the
University of Washington. Her background includes retail management
and buying. She also has experience in the wholesale, import and the
domestic/foreign manufacturing side of the apparel business. Traci
